The era of drug preparation by automated systems Onkohimo!
Chemotherapy products from a prominent Turkish manufacturer, deployed at Medical Park Hospital in Elazig, have successfully passed through four distinct safety control stages to enter the market. Additionally, the Elazig Medical Center has implemented a fully automated drug preparation device in its oncology department, leveraging advanced technologies.
Installed and operationalized by a local manufacturer, this automated device has passed through four distinct safety control stages before being implemented for patient use. The system achieves resource efficiency by subjecting medications to multiple control stages without manual intervention, thereby enhancing safety measures. Notably, this locally developed system ensures effective medication preparation and cost savings, making a substantial contribution to Turkey’s national economy.
Associate Professor Dr. Ramazan Yildiz, the head oncologist, highlighted their commitment to enhancing patient care with the new system. He stated, “With the new system, we aim not only to ensure the right medical approach and excellent nursing care but also accurate drug preparation. This fully automated system offers dual control services during drug preparation in our department. I am confident that its introduction, a first in Elazig, will markedly enhance the quality of our patients’ treatment.”
After passing 4 safety control stages
Dr. Suleyman Erdogdu, an oncologist dedicated to delivering top-notch services to cancer patients in the region, expressed their commitment to innovation in drug production. “We have introduced an automatic device in our center with the belief that it will bring numerous benefits to both patients and our facility,” he remarked. “After successfully passing through four rigorous safety control stages, medical treatment is administered to patients. We believe this device to be a pioneering initiative in our field, poised to greatly benefit our department and patients alike. Throughout cancer diagnosis and treatment, we remain steadfastly supportive of our patients.”
“We made a domestic product”
Bora Firat, the director of the regional health technologies office, highlighted the substantial cost reduction achieved by the installed system for drug preparation. “Our devices guarantee the accurate delivery of medication doses to individual patients at the appropriate times,” he stated. “We have showcased the benefits of these medications for both the nation and future patients in the healthcare sector and hospitals when administered to subsequent patients. This marks a significant milestone in producing domestic products!”
Ukrainian experience
